Inspired by everyone here I too have just joined Tribal Pages and agree with everyone else it's brill! Just one question - how do you get your 'matches', are they sent automatically to own email or is there a place on Tribal pages for them OR do you have to look for matches yourself? You never know - one of my brick walls might come tumbling down with Tribal pages help! Sue

Hi There I also have my tree on tribal pages... I think that its a great site..... OC.. There is a facility on Tribal to add both Burial and christening events that took place... While in the edit section for the names... say you click on a name and it brings up the place where you can edit your info.. change details etc... there is a box where you can add either of the above... the other events part is under where you put in the Birth or death details... Add new event gives you a majority of things to choose from.. once found just add new event.. Yours Mo

Mo Yes, thankyou for that, I do know about it - it is a relatively new addition since this thread was started, lol! I also find it useful for things like Wills etc. One of the first things I entered in the 'sources and citations' bit was 'I have the certificate' - this reminds me I have got it AND that the information on my tree is from an official source. I m glad Tribalpages has finally added a facility for burial and christenings etc but I dont think I will go through my tree of over 3000 names to change them now as I have it written in their notes lol. Jenny

I read this thread with interest last weekend...since then I have joined TP and have exported my tree from here. I think TP is brilliant...I have been trying to find a way for my relatives who are not members of GR to see our tree Just need more hours in the day to add more photos etc!! Thanks to you all. I've joined TP too. From being scared of the word Gedcom, the whole export and import only took 10 minutes, and I'm a computer idiot. Duncan

I have my tree on TP as well. Its great the various ways you can view lists of rellies. Someone asked a while ago about hot matches. Does TP have them? Louise

An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 16 Mar 2007 13:12

Louise It doesnt offer Hot Matches as we know them on here, but it does offer matches in other trees. (On the page where you would input a new name, there is a box to the right, which says something about 'connections in other trees'). And they are far more accurate, as they match birth year, name and place. You can also do your own name search on the site, just as you can on here. Jack Sorry, I don't have the website address saved, I go straight into my tree, but google Tribal Pages and that should get you in. OC

Only joined Tribal Pages last week and have found it so easy to negotiate. I am still finding my way around and this thread has been so helpful. Thankyou all. Just a question....I have put in occupation and find it comes up in a fancy box next to the name. Is this normal as it looks out of place. Jean x.

An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 16 Mar 2007 20:26

Jean Yes - quite normal! I like the narrative boxes as I put reminders i them e.g. 'this is not the John Bloggs who married Mary Smith in 1847'. I also put census findings i the narrative, and any biographical details too. OC

Thanks OC. Been on there for a couple of hours tonight updating and quite getting to like the look of them now. The more time I spend on the site the more I like it. Jean x.

Like many others, thanks to this thread I have joined Tribal Pages, rather than export my tree from here ive decided to start from scratch, its going to take me ages, doing it bit by bit, but it will refresh my mind of all my information and give me a chance to add extra info. This thread has been really helpful Nicky.

Being very new to all this, how do you decide between sites? Isn't it confusing to have lots of sites, or are there benifits I've not considered? And can you search BMD and Censuses (IS it censuses? or censii? or what??) on TP? Lots of questions - any advice? Bx
