Hi Mike Another shot in the dark definately, have a new contact as her mother recognised some family photo's of mine as being her relations. The hard part is we don't know how we are connected but we have a Charles William Humphry Ward we are trying to find like mad whose father is called John. In 1909 this Charles married Emily Barrett in Paddington, he was 50 and she was 23, this was his second marriage and on his daughter's birth cert the following May, his name is given as Charles Humphry Ward. Occupations on the marriage cert give Charles as a wagon repairer for G W Railway and his father John is a shepherd. Even with my accumulation of Wards I don't have a John that fits in my family so wondered if on any of your discs you could give me a starting point. Haven't found anything on St Margs and don't even know if they were in Leicester. Have waited this long to ask because I can trace the Barretts alright but not Charles and I am stuck. Thanks as always Elaine

*** F.A.O. ***……. Sarah. Glad we have now Identified them…… So…. 1851. Census. HO 107. / 2087. / 286. / Page. 7. St. Paul’s Parish Woodhouse. Eaves Street. Thomas Clarke. Head Mar. 63. Stocking Maker b NARBOROUGH. Leicestershire. Ann Wife.62. b Woodhouse. JOHN. Son. 22. Stocking Maker. b. Woodhouse. William. Son. 16. Ditto. b Woodhouse. Jessie Clarke. Gr/Son. 9. Base Born. b. Woodhouse. BASE BORN = Illegitimate. 1861. Census. RG 9. / 2280. / 106. / Page. 8. St. Paul’s Parish. Woodhouse. Eaves Street. JOHN CLARKE. Head Mar. 32. Mason's Lab. Mary. Wife. 30. Lab’s Wife. NATHANIEL Son. 9. Scholar. Anne, Dau. 5. Ditto. Samuel. Son. 2. ALL above Born Woodhouse. So I see that Thomas was born NARBOROUGH Leicestershire So had to switch to this Parish for Christening & Parents. THREE choices……. ( 1. ) Thomas Clark. 18th. August. 1787. Narborough. Father :- Joseph. Mother :- Elizabeth. ( 2. ) Thomas Clark. 11th. May. 1788. Narborough. Father :- John. Mother :- Elizabeth. ( 3. ) Thomas Clark. 29th. July. 1798. Narborough. Father :- Joseph. Mother:- Elizabeth. I would go for No. 2. which would match up with age ( 63 ) on 1851.Census. Also bare in mind that the enumerator’s on the 1841. Census Were told to round DOWN the ages of those over 15 to the nearest multiples of 5. …….(e.g.) 53 = 50.Age stated on 1841. Census. Also it stated that Thomas was born within the County of Leicestershire which Narborough is……. Interesting CLARK Burials found for Narborough :- Names. / Dates./ Notes.:- Clark * Elizabeth 20 Dec 1829 75 WIFE OF JOHN Clark * John 3 Dec 1837 79 WIDOWER NOW….. CHRISTENING & MARRIAGES………. Oct.~ Nov.~ Dec. Quarter 1851. NATHANIEL CLARKE. Barrow Upon Soar District ( which covers Woodhouse.) Certificate No. XV. 32. Aprox 9 months before above MARRIAGE. April.~ May. ~ June. Quarter. 1851. John Clarke. Barrow Upon Soar District. Certificate No. XV. 55. Not knowing the maiden Name of Johns Wife Mary So could not cross ref it in order to confirm it. The small Certificate Ref. No's indicate it was a small Village = Woodhouse ? and not Barrow Upon Soar Village which would have had bigger No's at this time ... I can look up the early Christening’s Register’s & Marriage Registers for you next week at Wigston Records Office, and get back to you. …… MIKE.
