Well, seeing as I'm quite a nice person really, I suppose we could allow you to stay here (but NOT if you refer to matching socks and hot matches!!!! bad, bad, bad, bad, bad). I think a suitable punishment would be to transcribe the whole of the BMD's for Yorkshire and Lancashire on your own and in double quick time. In this way you can contribute to society in a way that is befitting this board and upholding its honour!! Snowdrops PS: Please, please, please, someone stop me from answering Kathryn's new thread re board names.

Hi I totally agree with you, much of the time it seems more like a chat board, if you want to chat get to the right site. Jane

But such a friendly environment don't you think Jane............. threads such as this not withstanding of course. Even hardcore researchers need a bit of fun and a break from the eye strain sustained on behalf of others.

I am sorry Jane I have to disagree with you here...take a note of all those who are having a light hearted conversation on this thread. These are the people who have given so much time answering threads...giving advice, tips and have spent money doing look ups...with out these peeps we would be banging our heads against all those brick walls forever!! If you can be without them ok...your loss...but I really value their imput and knowledge. Yes I am passionate about my family history and where I came from but there is room for some light heartedness....it does not deter from what we share this board for though. Best wishes....Linda

I really didnt want to bring this one to the top again, but I was really quite upset and offended to see a new member Jane Moir complaining this is 'like a chat board'. Jane, count the threads on this board and then tell us what percentage is just banter? At a wild guess, last 20 pages x what 20 messages a page 400 threads? and say 2 that are banter. Equalling something like 0.08% not strictly genealogical. If the people involved in the light hearted threads took your advice to go to another board I think you would quickly see this one grind to a halt. I only hope you dont need any look ups or advice in the near future!

I think this board is The Best. Without the help that I have gratefully received, my small tree would have never been planted. Surely it dosent have to be stern, strict and boring. Carry on the good work folks and I only hope that Jane never replies to my requests for help. (she would scare me to death) Thanks to all of the helpers. Denise.
