Elizabeth Report 14 Jan 2006 23:35

Dear Madeline, A bit of a long shot, as they were all East End boys (Bethnal Green, Stepney, West Ham) McCarthy brothers; Cornelius (born c.1885) Alfred (1893) David (1894) John (perhaps 1897) William (1898) Alphonse (1899) Maurice (1901) Just out of interest, I hope I am not repeating questions; firstly is your list only enlisted MEN (ie no nurses etc) & secondly, is it just an army roll? Thanks for taking the time, LIZ

Madeline, Thank you for your very kind offer of look-ups. May I ask please that you have a look for the surname SANDY from Brixton, Balham, Streatham or Tooting ... there shouldn't be many SANDYs, so I'd be interested in anyone you find. Very many thanks. Regs Jane

Madeline Report 15 Jan 2006 17:19

Elizabeth Leach, in answer to your question, the lists seem to be men and women whatever they did during the war. When i bought these CDs i was under the understanding that everyone that served in the first world war from the London area was listed on these CDs but how wrong i was, i havent been able to find any of my relatives on them. Even some very common names there isnt any ( my grandfather, Hughes) Still the men and women on here have to be someones ancestors so it might help someone Regards Madeline
