Hello....hello...Mike are you out there? Happy New Year and stuff. Looking for your help again. Arthur Bradbury is causing me some problems. In fact I have double trouble as there are two of them. I want one of them to be the son of Samuel and Emma(nee Friswell) who were at 1 Harrison Road in 1901. I have two births and one marriage as follows: Births SQ 1884 7a 229 DQ1883 7a 206 Marriage (spouse Louisa Bramley) SQ 1906 7a 763 The two of them would have been the same age at the date of death I have, which helps me not at all. Do you have access to anything that might make this a little clearer? Thanks in anticipation Sheila

Greeting’s Again Sheila……. I’m sorry for the upsetting ref for still born to Emma I put that up to tie in with & confirm the Address in 1881. Census……. Sorry. Now I spent sometime yesterday trawling through the Parish Registers for All Saints, St. Margaret’s for any sign of Bradbury’s……. But drew a blank…… Including any sign of Samuel’s & Emma’s 1868. Marriage….. Just wonder if they didn’t have consent of Parents back in Bedworth ( Village of birth for both of them ) and so came to Leicester and had a Civil Marriage Service ? If so…. It wouldn’t show up on any Parish records……? Maybe you had better order the certificate for the Marriage using the ref No’s 7 a 376. I have given you in last post Which would at lest give you the Place of marriage. So I’ll continue the search and check out St. Nicolas & St. Leonard’s Parish Registers And maybe St. Mary De Castro time permitting……. next week. MIKE.

Hi Mike I wondered if you can help me. I have just been told my ancestors had a shop in Latimer St. in the late 1920s or 1930s. Would you have any records of such please? It was run by two sisters of my g grandmother but I don't know if they were married or not, their maiden name was Sutton with possible first names Ellen, Agnes or Ada. Thanks Tracey

Oh my, what memories. Seeing the posting regarding the shop at 46 Latimer Street, my Nan lived at 44 from 1908 till her death in 1964. The shop was tiny but sold everything! Remember this and the Westcotes Hotel and off licence very well from my childhood. JoJo

Hi Mike Thank you so much for looking for me. On the 1891 census most of the siblings were cycle trade assistants so I wondered if they opened up a bike shop?. I'll keep checking back, thanks again Tracey x

Tracey, I think that there was a bike shop on the corner of Latimer Street and Hinckley Road, but my memory is not what it should be, my excuse is that I was very young at the time!!! I am sure Mike will find it for you. JoJo
