Hi Jeanette Would be interested in helping out - have done some census transcription before for local family history society - very interesting, sometimes frustrating, but always worthwhile:-) Carol

Hi Ella Glad to hear you're getting to grips with it. It's pretty easy when you get going isn't it? I've just got my first piece for checking so I'm going to try and work out how to use the checking program later. Keep your fingers crossed! lol Jeanette x

You have my total sympathy Ella! A similar thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I sat here for 2 hours transcribing then my computer crashed. Of course I hadn't saved any as I'd gone along so it was all lost. We live and learn! lol Jeanette x

Hi Ella I haven't really counted how many I'm doing in an hour to be honest. But of course it will all depend on how bad the writing and images are. And like you said, you get quicker the more used to it you get. I do have my own little way of doing things, which I suppose most people do. Don't know if I should do it this way or not but it suits me. At the beginning of a new page I enter the ED, Folio, Page and schedule numbers and address. Then the details for the first person on the page. I then go down and enter all the places of birth on that page, then go back to the top and enter the rest of the details for everyone on the page. Of course you have to be careful not to miss out a birthplace otherwise you have to go back and sort it all out! Jeanette x
