Hi Jess I have just rung him back, the birth cert was for her daughter: Doreen May Mitchell Born 2/6/1931 Father: Percy George Mitchell Mother: Lily Emma Woods Registeredby: Lily Emma Woods living at 217 Lower Woodside Caddington Road. Can you please if possible tell me WHY her birth would of been witnessed on 1/8/1946. Also why a marriage that took place on the 23/7/1949 was witnessed on the 12/11/1951. Cheers Lyn.

The Bag Report 15 Jul 2005 22:40

Lyn - the dates are 'odd'- the birth cert does suggest one thing (although i'll keep that idea to myself ) until you find out a bit more about them. Do YOU have any ideas as to why a birth should be registered after a space of time? I think, with all due respect that he must be misunderstanding something on the marriage cert, the witnesses sign at the wedding, not days weeks or months later. J..elly erm ..not sure ...guess copy and paste missed the end not me! yes Breadcroft etc

Hi Jess Could it be that they had the bands read 2 years later? Would my nan have got a new birth cert for when she started work? as this is the only reason i can think of. I really think i need to go to bed as all this isn`t making much sence to me at the moment, will look at it all again tomorrow. Would just like to say a ((((REALLY)))) big (((THANKYOU))) Lyn.

The Bag Report 15 Jul 2005 23:05

Lyn- marriage banns are 'read' before the marriage can take place, so it cant be that. Are we confusiong date of registration or date of issue here with the birth cert? Births are not witnessed If i sent for my birth cert today it would have an issue date of probably Monday on it, the day that they copied it and sent it to me

Dear Jess, A more difficult request. I am looking for WILLIAM LILLY LENDRUM BARCLAY in the 1861 Census. The information I have for him is as follows: He was born in 1849 in Peterhead Aberdeenshire and his father died the following year. I 'got' him in the 1851 Censu livng with his mother in Peterhead. She remarried in 1854 to Peter Allan. My next information about him is in the 1871 Census when he was living as a lodger in Hebburn in Tyneside. He would be ca 11 years old in 1861 but I've no idea where he is. Derek

Hi Jess, Please could you do me another favour and check the 1901 census for a Thomas Day. I believe he may be in South Leighton, Essex, and he may already have been married with sons John and/or Tom/Thomas. I realise this is a long shot, but I have no further info, except that he may have been listed on the census as a Commercial Traveller (per his sons marriage cert) - I've been told he was a Punch & Judy man. Thanks Heidi

Hi Jess,PRESCOT IS A REGISTRATION DISTRICT THAT COVERS ST HELENS,WINDLE,SUTTON AND ALL THE SURROUNDING AREAS. MARY PULLAR WAS IN FREEBMD MARRIAGE :YEAR 1874 DISTRICT:PRESCOT, COUNTY: LANCASHIRE, VOLUME:8b PAGE 954 THE MALES ON THAT PAGE WERE LEE,WRIGHT ,ROBINSON,JAMES. I THOUGHT THE BEST WAY TO FIND OUT WHICH ONE SHE WAS MARRIED TO WOULD BE THROUGH THe 1881CENSUS AND POSSIBLY 1901 THERE WERE VERY FEW PULLARS IN THAT AREA AT THAT TIME. MOSTLY MY ANCESTORS WHO HAD COME FROM SCOTLAND. SO I FIGUERED ANY PULLAR AT THAT TIME WOULD BE RELATED. CATHERINE,MARY,JANET and SARAH WERE MY GGRANDMOTHERS SISTERS. I'm KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED X THANKs,Margaret

Brennan Report 17 Jul 2005 02:03

Hi Jess sorry i dont know what happened then, it just went before i had finished. The next two didn't marry until the Sept Qtr of 1902 in Aston but i am hoping that if you can find them in the 1901 census that they are both living with their respective parents. Francis Joseph Badland, born c1877 Ellen Langdell born c1881 I hope that this information is enough to let you be able search. Once again thank you. Bren
