Hi Joan, Im thinking the Sheffield Library will be the best option as well. I emailed the Sheffield Star newspaper earlier and they have just responded to say they have no records but i cant be specific on the year as my nan cant remember that. She seems to think he committed the crime after his dad died and ive found his death in 1969. Means more likely to be early 70's this happened. If this guy that Wizz has found is him, he cant have spent that long in jail as nan remembers he came out before he died. Thankfully, he isnt my blood line either. Regards, Claire

Hi Ann,

Welcome to the boards.

Claire's thread was posted in 2004 and she might not be checking her thread any more.

If you click on her board name Bluesavannah then you will be able to send her a private messages. If Claire hasn't changed her email address then she will receive notification of your message from GR.

In your message let Claire now that if she is no longer a member then she can still reply to your message without having to take out a subscription to GR.

Hope you can make contact with Claire and good luck with your research.

Think you could probably do the above on freebmd not all areas are up to date but its a very good site to try
