Don't know whether these are amusing or gruesome, but they are father and son "Blood poisoning after removal of the Tongue for Epithelioma." (no wonder the family didn't like hospital)and his son died of "Failure of respiration due to bronchitis and acute congestion of left lung with oedema of both lungs accelerated by administration of chloroform and ether mixture for necessary operation AND FROM MISADVENTURE ! Put the widows off ever having any operations I would think! Kim

Looking at this thread has brought a few laughs, but I suspect that "Death by teeth" is probably that their teeth were so rotten that they were poisoned by them. I had a couple of 2nd ggrands who both died of Pthisis which seems to be some form of pneumonia. Hardly surprising as they lived at Cold Bath Street, Greenwich. Lol Jim

Phthisis is an old-fashioned term for tuberculosis of the lungs. Just be careful none of you dies laughing! nell

Hi All Here's one which I think is sad but nice. On a visit to an Aunt of mine who lived in warden assisted housing. Neighbours who were celebrating there diamond wedding anniversary, both the wife & husband died after the celebrations. Now that's what I say is a nice way to go. ( I know what some of you could be thinking, keep your thoughts yourself PLEASE !!) Regards J.C

I have a rellie who was a miner. As he died quite young (40) I decided to get his DC to see if he'd died in a mining accident. The cert says ' Accidently killed by a pit prop striking against his jaw whilst engaged in knocking out a small prop to let down coal, the coal falling on the far end of the prop & forcing the near end up against his jaw.' Not funny, I know, but it makes a change from phtisis and pertrussis. One of my hubby's ancestors was a licensed victualler who died of the DT - his wife died a month later of 'natural causes'. A 4xGrangfather died from Old Age - he was forty Two. Blooming eck, mind you he probably looked older after producing 19 kiddies and wed 4 wives - the little devil. Lin

Nothing to do with an ancestor but I heard a funny one on the radio the other day. Two men found dead in a prison cell. The newsreader said, "It's suspected that it was either a suicide pact or that one hanged himself then killed himself" LOL!! Lynne
