Sarah, Thank you for your comment - to answer your question - yes and no!!! I was born in Godalming and have probably been to Shere many times as a small child - however, at the grand age of 50 I don't remember any of it. Hi Crista. Many thanks for the reply and what you sent regarding the SARGENT families confirms our patchy infoas well as gives positive dates. Regarding the SCOTT family, that is where I have become stuck as all I have is George SCOTT bn 1830 and subsequently married a lady by the name of Esther ? ? so any previous marriages under that name and information from Horne or Horley would possibly fit as that is where all my fathers family seem to come from. Gaynor I've just stumbled upon your reply to me. I am sooo glad to have helped you. If you pop 'Shere Museum' into your google search, you will be able to find out more about it, i.e. opening times etc...
