Hello, I am trying to find George and Mary Cook(e) in the 1861 census, so far without success. I know they were living in Burrington, South Molton in 1856 when their son John was born. I'm trying to find out when and where they married, so I'm hoping that the 1861 census will show them with all their children and so give me a clue. My other Devon interests are CORAM, MEAD and RICHARDS Peter

A few years ago I had correspondence with a distant Cousin, Andrew Greville Allchin, living in Bideford in Devon. Recently I tried to renew contact only to learn that he died a few years ago, and left his research to an Archive. Apparently he traced the Allchin family back to the Battle of Agincourt, but I can't find which archive he left it to. May I please plead with all you Devonians to ask at all the Archives you visit whether they hold this bequest, and let me know. Thanks ever so much, Jim

Hi Sally, and Smiley Sammy, I'm finding this line of Rowe quite difficult - it's such a common name. I do have his marriage certificate and so now know that Richard Rowe's father was John and it stated he was a carpenter. Would love to have more details of the one who was on Fore street, Sally, do you have any more you can tell me about them? Well, I'll keep plugging away and see if I can find out who he was. Regards Barbara

Hi Sally, Thanks for that, but don't think they're mine as he got married in 1861 -would only be 10 years old! I don't have any idea who his mother was as yet. So will just have to keep looking around until I find him. Barbara
