Night Susie ! Will need to get it sorted well before the footie starts tomorrow though ! Won't be able to concentrate after that. You could always save it with a different name overnight for safety. Click File Save As and call it Monday or something ? Rick.

susie manterfield(high wycombe) Report 21 Apr 2004 19:55

rick thankyou so much for your help,i wouldnt have known what to do with out you and karen and ann youve all been great:) just one other question..lol do you use capitals at all for the surnames and counties also can we abreviate the county or are we suppose to write it in full if that is how its transcribed cos i thought i read somewhere that we have to write it exactly as the enumerator had written it susie

Rick

Rick Report 21 Apr 2004 20:05

Hi Susie, Glad to be of help :-) They want you to put exactly what you can see as written by the enumerator, even if it looks wrong. The conversion program puts capital letters in the right place for names. The County column however must contain the three letter "Chapman" code for the county - there's a table of them in the SSCENS field descriptions notes. Rick.

Hi, just reading through, I was just wondering Susie if you have also downloaded Genie? That is really good to help you work out place names or where they are from.
