Hi Pippa, I think this is your Mary Mayes; widowed in 1891. Charlotte and Alice are indexed as Mayes but on the actual schedule follow on from Alfred so should therefore be Haydon. RG12/1511, Folio 101, page 28 Cromer, Norfolk Chapel Street Mary Ann Mayes, head, wid, 67, living on own means, Norfolk Cromer Alfred J Hayson, son in law, mar, 38, bricklayer, Norwich Charlotte C Mayes, wife, mar, 31, Norfolk Cromer Alice M Mayes, daur, 14, Norfolk Cromer Emma.

Hi Susan, The numbers provided are the reference numbers for that particular page of the census. Now you have that you can always find him again on the 1891 census - if you wanted to see the schedule for yourself at a local history library for example. However, if you would like a copy of the schedule itself for your records, you can email me and I'll email it back to you as an attachment. Where have you got your information from so far? Have you checked the 1901 and 1881 census? What other internet sites do you know of? Emma

Jean, I'm sorry I've tried everything and can't find one single member of the Smart family. Either they're not on the 1891 census or their names has been very badly mistranscribed. Emma.

Emma, I've just been to have a look at your Bongaminghus Fright, and whilst I agree that the surname does look like Fright, I think his first names are Benjamin James. No wonder we can't find people on this site. Again, many thanks for trying to find my elusive Fosters. Jan.

Hello Jean Believe it or not, I found a William Smart in Wales. He is 47, was born in Calne, Wiltshire and is living in Monmouthshire. However, his wife is called Mary and his children are Charles, Margaret, Kate and Richard. Could your ancestor have had a different family for every decade?? LOL
