Tracy - Gedcom is a file format created by the LDS (Latter Day Saints) as a way to allow people to transfer their trees between different family tree software and other people. If you own any family tree software it will normally allow you to export your data to a gedcom file. By uploading that file here you can avoid repeating any work you may previously have done. (Providing it works, many are finding that they are getting errors when attempting to load their gedcoms here) Further (technical) Info - Gedcom isn't however a brilliant standard, it is techincally out of date and relies on some antiquated thinking in terms of design. It is accepted by many software designers because as yet no-one has designed a better solution. Currently the LDS are working on a re-write although having had a look at their early concepts it still suffers from flaws.
