on Rhoda's birth cert it has him as a Hawker, living in Windor (maybe worked for the queen ;-) ). Still will never know where he really came from :-( unless there's another way anyone can think of

What's your opioni, do you think that the Irish thing is correct, or that the person filling in the census just did a dito from the line above?

just seen jane born in Breconshire, that family have been in about 6 different places

Usually the mother isn't mentioned.

It's the birth cert you need but I can't find her.

Yes. I wonder about her (Jane) age as she would've married about 15-16 years of age. Not impossible of course.

I put the marriage index in a previous posting. His name was David. I cannot find her in any other census or the grandchildren in later census.

Reggie found a few of Rhoda's brothers and sisters so great there, i can get their birth certs for morthers maiden name. Can't find James or Eliza in 1841 though, we found them in 1851 for definate, but it says that James is born in Ireland but I think that is a mistake, they seem to have just dito'd from the family above. Would really need to find the 1841 census for James Benton for definate he could be born 1804 or there abouts

Jsut had a thought, James Benton's death cert should have where he is from, is this correct?

James would have died between the 1861 and 1871 census, probably in wales

Ozbird, that mariage for Jane is the correct one, as it has David Powell on the same page

His death certificate will only have his address at the time of death...and place of death, if different.

Only since 1969? have death certificates included place of birth.

Death cert's don't usually have where they are from. Also the information you get on a death cert is as good as the knowledge of the person registering the death.

If this is your Eliza she should be on 1881.

Thanks for the info Gwyneth and Ozbird, but looking at the 1871 & 1861 census has him from Middlesex, so that 1851 census, although correct his place of birth has just been dito'd from the family above, so not ireland.

can't see her on 1881, but that death cert is definatley correct
