I have been trying for years to trace my ggggfather James DUFF b c 1808 at Mains of Auchindachy nr Keith Banffshire Scotland. He qualified M.A. from Kings College Aberdeen in 1831.In 1839 he was in Forgie Banffshire and in 1847 he was appointed assistant minister at New Spynie church.Where was he in 1841? He may have been teaching or already a minister of the Church of Scotland.Any info appreciated.In 1841 the mother of his son Isbel Innes was with the son at Broadrashes farm nr Keith no sigh of James.

Thanks for the info was very helpful, would you be able to find out the address for where they lived? and do you think you could do a search on a John Lee Welsh born on the 13th Feb 1905 in Pontypridd. Pos address that is in his army papers is 17 Lincoln Street Canton Cardiff. Mothers name by marriage is Mary.

Sorry I should have given you dates, John & Isobel were married 1.9.1787, Ebenezer b.1789, Isobel b.1790, James b.1792, John b.1797(could this be the John you found?) Alexander b.1799(my 3X GG) Ann b. 1805. Alexander went onto marry Agness Collie 9.4.1820 & they both died in South Australia.
