Scottish Census records NEW

We now have the 1841 – 1901 Scottish census on the site. We have transcriptions of the records but no images are available.

You can see an individual transcription and a transcription of everyone living in the house on the night the census was taken. You might find a relative of the wife was staying and this can provide clues as to her maiden name. Also, a woman may well return home for the birth of her first child. Make sure you take a look at the birthplace as it could be an indication of where her parents were living at the time.

It costs 5 credits to view a record.
