Search Records

Why should I search historical records?

What am I searching?

  • When you choose to search records, we search a huge database of historical records for names that match your search criteria.
  • This includes Census records dating from 1841, Birth, Marriage and Death Records and also Military Death Records.
  • You can perform a search even if all the information you have is a surname.
  • Some of these records were recorded hundreds of years ago so try not to be too specific when it comes to 'Birth place' as names of locations can change.

Search All Records

Enter a name to search 515 million historical records.

All fields with a * are mandatory.

Enter a name into the Search Records box along with the year of birth of the person you are trying to find.

We advise you not to enter a middle name in the forename field as this can restrict your search results.

If you are uncertain of the year of birth you can use the give or take box to search a few years either side of your stated date.

You can still search with if the only information you have is a Surname.

Even if you know where the person you are searching for was born, do not be too specific with place keywords as location names may have changed.
