Tips for searching Travel Records
A surname and a place is all you need to get started. An estimated year of birth helps if you're searching for a common surname. You can always add more details later to get more accurate search results.
Narrow your search down by adding a forename and a year of birth. Make it even more specific by adding in a port of departure and a departure year.
When you're searching the passenger lists, check if your ancestor travelled with anyone else. You might find details of other family members you knew nothing about.
Make sure you add all the information you discover to your tree. There's also a handy 'Notes' box where you can add anything else you've discovered.
