It is important to view either the transcribed or original record as this is where you will find the military number and reference number should you want to order a death certificate or find out more about your ancestors time serving in the war.

These are our death records of soldiers who died whilst serving in World War 1. The records have been indexed so you will see a transcription
of the death record and you can also see a copy of the death index page.
You can search by forename and surname. You can broaden your search by searching for the surname only.
Once you have found the death you are looking for you can order a copy of the death certificate from the General Register Office using
the volume and page number, the district and the year, which you'll find in our records.
