6B. Gift Membership.
If you are a Free, Standard, Gold or Platinum Member of the Genes Reunited
Service, you ("Donor") may purchase Gold Membership as a gift for someone else
(“Donee”). The cost of purchasing Gold Membership as a gift for the Donee will
be the same price as if the Donee purchased Gold Membership themselves (unless
otherwise specified on the Genes Reunited Service). The Donee does not have to
be an existing Member of the Genes Reunited Service to receive the gift.
In order to purchase a gift, the Donor should go to the “Gifts” section in the
Genes Reunited Service and complete the gift purchase form by entering the name
and email address of the Donee and by submitting valid credit or debit card
payment details. We do not accept paypal or cheques as a method of payment for
gift membership.
If the purchase of the gift is successful, the Donor will be taken to a
confirmation webpage confirming the successful purchase of the gift and the
Donor will also be sent a confirmation email from us.
The Donee will then receive notification of their gift via email, which will
include a unique voucher code and instructions on how the Donee can redeem their
gift membership via the Genes Reunited Service. In order to redeem their gift
membership, the Donee will need to register as a Free Member on the Genes
Reunited Service (if they are not already a member). The gift membership will
not start until the date it is redeemed by the Donee.
If the Donee is already a Standard or Gold Member of the Genes Reunited Service
upon receipt of the gift, then the Donee must wait until their current
subscription expires before redeeming their gift membership. Gift membership
cannot be used retrospectively (i.e. applied to orders already placed with us).
Except as otherwise stated in these Terms or agreed in writing with us, we will
not refund Standard or Gold Membership fees (or any other sums paid e.g. for
Credits) to existing Free, Standard or Gold members who have received a gift.
Gift membership unique voucher codes cannot be used in conjunction with any
other offers or promotions or transferred, assigned or exchanged for cash or
cash equivalent.
The gift membership unique voucher code will expire 6 months from the date of
purchase if the Donee has not redeemed the gift and activated their Gold
Membership during this period. We will not, under any circumstances, reactivate
gift memberships or refund sums paid for gift memberships which have expired and
have not been redeemed by the Donee.
The Donor may cancel the gift membership and receive a full refund of any sums
paid at and time during the 7 (seven) working days following the date on which
we send an email to the Donor confirming the Donor’s purchase of the gift
membership, PROVIDED THAT the Donee has not yet redeemed the gift membership.
Where gift membership is cancelled within this period the unique voucher code
contained within the email sent to the Donee will become invalid and cannot be
redeemed by the Donee.
We may at any time without notice to you, withdraw the facility for a Donor to
purchase Gift Membership for a Donee. Where we withdraw this facility a Donee
will still be able to redeem their gift membership provided their gift
membership unique voucher code has not expired.
