Its not a stupid question You need Scotlands People which is a pay to view site, 30 units cost £6 so reasonble cost 1 unit to view the ref and 5 units to view actual certs or census. later BMDS though from c1905 cant be viewed online .you have to buy the cert cos t£10 each.You will see if the ones you want are viewable or you have to buy
