she was born 22/5/1831 north hill cornwall elizabeth forster
she married my 2 x great grandfather james finnis at st botolph bishopsgate london 7/3/1852
her last known child was charles finnis 1876 london died 1886 mile end london
'i believe she died in the london areas between 1886 & 1896

Strange shown as wife but looks like it also says Widr ???

That 1891 census entry - although it says Wife as her relation to the head of household it also states she is a widow. Very odd.

Of course they may have separated and Elizabeth put herself as a widow to make things a bit more appropriate whereas he maintained that he was married in 1891. Perhaps by 1901 she had died or he then too pretended to be a widower to save face? Would be interested to know who was the informant of his death in 1905.
