I'm looking for the parents of James Mcallan, he married Janet Stephen from Edinburgh 28.05.1826 and they lived at Kemnay, Aberdeen. All my leads appear to be wrong and so I need someone to advise how to proceed or someone who has the answer.

Hi Rachel,
This is the family in 1841 under the name of Magallan.
Looks like James had died as Janet Stephen is called widow magallan.
Mary was only 11 months old in 1841 so he could have just recently died.

There is a death on scotlandspeople for a James McAllan(soundex on)
APRIL 1838 OLD MACHAR ABERDEEN.
Might be worth having a look at, it might give you some information about his parents etc.

Hi Rachel,
This is James' son Daniel in 1851. His mother Janet is living with him and still not re-married.

According to this census Janet (Stephen) was born in Kintore Aberdeenshire in 1795c. You have her as from Edinburgh.
