So who's line is it anyway? | Report | 21 Feb 2010 11:18 |
Trying to track down John Riches of Scarning and his immediate relations. My great grandfather Thomas Riches, son (I believe) of John Riches and an Elizabeth M then of Southwark. John recorded as having been born in Scarning in 1806 (or 1809 in another record). I THINK he might be related to William Riches 1766 and Sarah 1786, and his siblings might have been Hannah (1806) and William (1811) who was married to Sarah Cordy and had a daughter Matilda (1826). Just been to Scarning and found William and Sarah's graves, as well as several Cordys. Anyone help? |

hi Ann, sorry, I meant to say Cordy - I've just tracked down a John Corby Riches, Married Elizabeth M, recorded as Corby and of Tearming Norfolk, on 1851 Southwark Census, but if you look at the record, I'm pretty sure that it is John Cordy or Scarning.... so I wonder if William Senior's (1766) wife Sarah was also a Cordy, as well as William 1811. Fascinating ..... |

wow, thanks for all those - guess they must be 'my' Sarah Cordy's relations - I'll take a look and see what I can unravel. Still no definite confirmation of John Cordy Riches parentage though other than the educated guess that it must be the Willam Riches died Oct 28 1848 in his 84th year and Sarah died Jan 20 1851 age 71 in the graveyard at Scarning. |
