Trying to find out if Alice sewell was formerly an Alice Winder who married John Sewell and had Peter Singleton Sewell as one of their sons,or if she was an Alice Singleton.They were maried around 1847 ish |

I should think the Singleton one is definately yours as why would they call a child Singleton Sewell if her maiden name was Winder???? You foten get the mothers maiden name as a second name and sometimes if the child was born out of wedlock the child is called Singleton Something. |

I don't see how you could doubt that she's Alice Singleton when the first child was Peter Singleton Sewell and Alice's father was Peter. |

Yes you are probably right about it being Alice Singleton,it was the close details of the Alice Winder/John Sewell marriage that caused me to doubt My first thoughts. |

Not sure why you've got the Garstang area in the earlier thread when the children were born Ormskirk? Garstang is near Preston, 40+ miles from Liverpool, Ormskirk is 13 miles out of Liverpool, but both are in Lancashire. |
