Find Ancestors

Hello,
I'm searching for Ernest Allen (born around 1890 I think) and his wife Elizabeth Allen, nee Gibbs, in the 1911 census. I expect them to be in the Wandsworth area of London. They may have with them babies Ernest and Samuel. Would someone kindly be able to look for me please?

Hi Jan,
I'm afraid I'm not even sure of that. There are so many Ernest Allens I've been having trouble matching him with the right Elizabeth Gibbs. I'm new to this!! I know their third child, Violet, came along in November 1913, and the two boys were some time before then. So I was hoping they'd be together by 1911.

Thank you Jan! The order could be wrong, my mother-in-law wasn't positive. I think it must be the right Samuel, everything else fits, and that's definitely the Violet I have.
The only one of the 7 children I'm missing now is Ernest - I've ben told he's the oldest but now not so sure?!

The marriage cert. of Ernest and Elizabeth will give you their ages so you can work out their date of births, but I can't find a marriage with these names? The nearest I can get is this one:-

There are several ernest Allen births, plus a few on 1911 with father Ernest but none with mother Elizabeth that I can see. Have you got an occupation for Ernest senior?

Yes it could very well be them. The dates do fit, It's quite possible they all knew him as Ernest, but his real name was William, and I know for sure it's Elizabeth Gibbs.

No I don't have an occupation for Ernest Snr. Sorry, not much help I know! I'm trying to find Violet's birth certificate at home to be sure.

Oh wow!! Thank you that's amazing. I wonder what happened to Elizabeth Mary? I don't think she had a very long life, as I've never heard of her. There's that old saying about Skeletons in closets!! Thank you so much for helping x

I would still advise double-checking on Violet's birth cert just to be sure.

You say you know his real name was William and middle name was Ernest, so could I suggest if you do another thread that you put all the info you have onto your request as this does make it much easier for anyone helping out as official records are usually recorded in the correct name.

Oh sorry, that was me typing too quickly!! I thought his name was Ernest, but meant it was possible his real name could be William, we just never knew. Thank you all of you for your kind help and advice.
