I'm trying to trace family of GEORGE Albert ALLEN (my late Grandad) born august 1889, in Little Meols, Wirral; HENRY ALLEN(my late great uncle) born September 1890 in Little Meols, Wirral and the rest of the 9 children born to CHARLES HENRY ALLEN and MARY FOLEY ... ... I know there was also a RHODA - I think she was the eldest, died around the early 1950's; MAUDE was possibly the youngest; amongst others there were possibly a VIRGIL and a JOHN HENRY... One of the girls married a band leader JAY WIDDEN; One of the sons moved to Australia. There were cousins Alan and Harry MILLER who were sons/relatives of a Toy manufacturer. George married Phyllis McMahon and they had two sons Derek Charles born 1923 and Roger George born 1925; Roger died 1944 with the Paratroop regiment, both born when George was serving in the forces in India...Derek was in the Royal Marines... George had been in the Royal Iniskillan Dragoons; United Service Employment Association; HM Customs & Excise etc.. Apparently the family moved around the United Kingdom, gradually settling in Hoylake then Liverpool /Seaforth /Bootle area. George and Phyllis both died well into their 70's..(in the 1960's in Bootle). About 15 years ago a distant cousin telephoned me at home when I lived in Knowsley Village but she did not leave a number or contact me again.. There must be many, many unknown cousins out there somewhere!! the Allens were such a big family... but we grew up without Aunts. Unlces or Cousins.... Please get in touch if you recognise these details... Would be grateful for any leads.. thank you Nadine |
