I am researching my family tree and my great grandmother was Isabella Maggie ANDERSON. Her father was born in Scotland. From a family of ship builders he did something bad in the family (probably got someone pregnant a servant possibly) and was sent to Ceylon as a remittance man where he was set up on a plantation. The family didn't completely disown him as Isabella went back and forth on the family clippers to Scotland. I have been unable to find anything out about him other than he died aproximately 1925 ish when his son took over the running of the plantation. Any help you could give me would be gratefully received. He had about 9 children that I know of: George, Alexander, Annie, Margaret, Nellie, Isabella, Jessie, Sandy, David. They were all born in Ceylon |
