Help needed, could any one please let me know if there is any way of finding further information from an RAF number, this is the only link I have in finding my Grandad. I dont even have a date of birth to narrow my search. He was in the Southend on Sea area around 1946 and was posted at RAF Horton. My mum and I would desperately like to know more about him.

Do you mean your mother never had contact with him? Or do you mean he is deceased and youd just like to find his service records? If your mum is next of kin she can buy them for £30.

But if you say you have no date of birth, Im guessing he likely disappeared? Sadly I think it is unlikely the RAF will pass on any information about him. You may try to see if they could possibly send on a letter to him but its a long time ago and its unlikely they know his current address (assuming his is still alive).

You may want to do a search in the box at the top of the page just to see if his name appears on any trees on here?
