My nan was Edith Mary Baker, she was born 25 Oct 1928 in Stockton on Tees, Cleveland. Daughter o Richard Baker and Emily Liddell.

Edith married my grandad Desmond James Clifon in 1949.

I am trying to find ANYONE who has any form of connection to her. I dont remember meeting her due to lack of contact with my dad and I dont know anyone from his side of the family so I dont have anyone to ask.

She only had one child (my dad). She died in 2000/2001.
I have tried emailing everyone on here who has her and her brothers and sister on their tree, but no one has got back in touch.

Hope someone out there can help me.

Hi Mandy. I've just submitted a post and got a reply back straight away -
There's a thread on the Records Board by Bernice...she maybe able to help...

this is what she says in her thread...........

Can trace missing relatives, find census 1841 to 1901 inclusive, access to all births marriages and deaths and have latest electoral roll. UK ONLY. Also can help adoptees find birth families. Also passenger lists 1890 to 1960. For Scotland I only have census and electoral roll. I also work fulitime so be patient. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE NAMES OF LIVING PEOPLE ON THE THREAD - EMAIL ME DIRECT

It's worth giving it a try!

For info Mandy -- I would have sent it privately but you said you knew of your nan's death:

Name: Edith Mary Clifton
Birth Date: 25 Oct 1928
Death Registration Month/Year: Jan 2001
Age at death (estimated): 72
Registration district: Middlesbrough
Inferred County: Cleveland
Register number: A12A
Entry Number: 184

The death certificate could provide you with some info about a family member.

What it will tell you is the exact date and place of death, and you would then be able to draft a reference librarian at the local library into helping you find an obituary published in the local newspaper, on microfilm record at the library. An obituary might name surviving or predeceased siblings.

I see the names of five siblings -- Bakers with mother Liddell -- in the birth records.

If you know their exact dates of birth, and the sister's married name, the 1984-2005 death index can be checked very quickly. I don't see any death to match any of the four brothers, who could have died before 1984 (a much more time-consuming search) or could still be living.

Ditto if you know any of their spouses' names and ages. Again, a death certificate or obituary could provide leads to living family.

So you have actually found a number of people on here who have your nan and her siblings in their trees?
