can anyone help. i have just received my greatgrandfathers wedding certificate. his name is a john henry baker, his age on the certificate is 34, so it makes his date of birth 1881/1882. i was hoping to find information about his father henry john baker, so i could find out where john was born, but on the certificate it states that henry was deceased. As anyone got any idea how i could go about this. many thanks debbie |

On 1891 census there are 3 possibles, plus 3 others with incorrect middle initials (but you can't rely on them being correct!) |

marriage was between john henry baker aged 34 he was a widower. His profession was a chimney sweep they were residing in steeple langford wiltshire. His father was henry john baker deceased and his profession was a carter. John married bertha hannah palmer nee chislett aged 35. she was also a widow. theres no fathers name on the certificate. The marriage took palce on the 16th of october 1915 in the parish of steeple langford district of wilton. sarah elizabeth chislett and john edward chislett were present. I have a lot of information about bertha regarding the chisletts but none about her marriage before john henry baker. i also did not know that he had been married before. many thanks again for your help. |

many thanks for all of your help. The answers to the chislett family are correct. and have since been told that bertha did marry a george palmer. they had a child called kathleen who was born in 1906. We believe that george died in the war because my mum can remember bertha with a war medal. i will have to try and find out more info if my bakers came from pewsey. it seems possible because all leads point to wiltshire. |
