Hi.

Could be they are no longer members. they should still get a message through from GR unless their e.mail address has changed.

Yuppers -- yesterday I got hot matches with someone who has my grandfather and his three sisters, their parents, their mother's parents ... and all the way up and back down to my grx4 grandmother's brother's grandson (he was pretty famous, so I think we all like to put him in our trees, although I haven't actually bothered).

How thrilling. Particularly since I'd love to know where my grandfather's three sisters got to (two went to the US). I have no idea who this person is, and it's quite possible we're only distantly related, but I'd still love to know who has my immediate family in their tree!

I sent off a charming letter of introduction. I know it's been read -- in case you didn't know, you can look in your "Sent Messages" box, and if the envelope beside the message isn't purple anymore, the recipient has opened and read it.

But have I had an answer? Nopers.

You don't have to be a paid-up member to reply to private messages you receive.

I'm still waiting for replies from two other people who have read the messages I sent them weeks and weeks ago about what I think might be that grandfather's half-siblings I never knew about ...

Don't pin your hopes on the people who have your relatives on their trees being related. I had this hope a while back but turned out the person was in no way related and appeared to have anyone of the same surname on his tree. I gave him access to my tree before I knew this and he copied everything from it without permisssion. He then passed the information on by letting people view his tree
