Hi Donna, It's possible that Louisa was in care at the time of the 1861 census, so might only be entered under her initials. Going by the birth registrations it looks like her brother, Charles, may really have been Edwin Charles Baker. William didn't remarry until late in 1861, so probably wasn't able to look after the children. The IGI on familysearch shows Louisa's mother as Matilda. There's a Matilda Baker who died early in 1861 in Ross, Herefordshire.

Thank you so much for that Christina.

I will look into more of what you told me.

Thanks again xx

William's birthplace was Cinderford

Jane's was Upton on Severn

Fred's age was 4....not 14.

Louisa and Charles were born Ross.....

Actually, I rather think this puts the mockers on it, as the lodger, William Baker, is a carpenter. Louisa's father Wm Henry was a Stone Mason

+*+blossom In Essex+*+ Report 15 May 2009 17:02

This is as close as I can get to William Henry on the 1861. The birth date is about right and Walford is in between Ross and Cinderford as a birth place. The residence is Worcestershire which is the place of the 2nd marriage. He is a stone mason. However, he is down as unmarried, when by our reckoning, he should be widowed?
