I would appreciate any information regarding my Father, Jack Donald Baker, born 18.08.1910 at Cowes on the Isle of Weight. I had always been told that Ada Emily Baker was his mother and our grand mother. On arrival in England I received his birth certificate, to find that his mother was a lady called Eva Irene, and that his father was not mentioned on the birth certificate! I know that Ada Emily is buried at Cowes, she died in 1956. I also know that an Uncle or brother of my late Father was Lord Mayor of Plymouth during the 2nd world war. I think Ada Emily was married to Walter Baker, and my father often mentioned the following names all Bakers, Wren, Nel, Eustas, Ted. My Father left England in the late 30s I think, and never returned again. He is buried in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. My Father was born at Kimble cottage, 25 Coronation Road, Cowes, and I do know that his family lived there from plus. minus 1910 t0 1956. |
