My Baker family were initially from Bristol [I think]. Robert Baker m Grace Herring 1754 in Taunton Somerset. They raised their family in Bristol, where Robert was a Tailor. 1. William Baker the older son followed his father in the trade, but died young. 2. Samuel Baker m Catherine Levi ca 1795 in Pembroke, and they moved to live at St Brides Netherwent, Monmouthshire, Wales. They had a large family, I am descended from their son William Baker b. 1799-1881, and Ann Leonard, b 1800-1884. It looks as though they were all farmers, the 1881 census indicates so. 3. Betty Baker I think must have stayed home to care for Grace, 4. Nancy Baker m a James Pullen/Pullin. He was a solicitor and practised in Bristol. I am happy to share any information with those who might be connected. Shalom Phyllis |
