William Baker (a music seller, pianoforte dealer and tuner) (bn 1838 Barnard Castle, Durham) and wife Sarah Shaw (bn 1841 Barnard Castle) are recorded as living in Moss Side, Lancashire on the 1881 and 1901 Census Records. They had three sons - Robert William Baker (Professor of Music) (bn 1861 Barnard Castle); Arthur G Baker (Professor of Music) (bn 1875 Darlington); Charles S Baker (Insurance Clerk) (bn 1883 Manchester).
