I am trying to finf out about Sarah, who was born in Lancashire in 1868 and then lived in Lockwood Huddersfield.

She lived with Richard Eaton but never married and had 4 girls, and raised almost single handed, as widowed early.

I am interested as she was, according to family legends, apparently a well known and " Unofficial midwife" in Lockwood area and then moved to Goker.
Also trying to find out if she was buried, and where.

I don't live anywhere near area, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Many thanks for help and information.

Not quite sure where to start looking for burial records.

Are there any records available on internet of churches and burials?

Angela- just seen this message . Trying to pinpoint possible burial places for Sarah Bennett would be.
St Marks Longwood- at the side of Longwood Gate where they were in 1911
St Johns in Golcar-( pronounced - Goker-) if she moved there later
or the cemetery in Lockwood which is the local authority.
I have rung them in the past and they were very helpful. 01484 234060 it might be worth a check. Failing that a call to the Huddersfield family history might have a transcription for Golcar Parish. The have their own website. -JLe

Many thanks for this information. Will contact the cemetry to see if they can help me.

Really appreciate your help. Didn't realise the spelling of
Golcar!

Glad you got the message.Know what you mean about pronunciation. I thought my grandmother came from Ackenthorpe in Sheffield, it took me twenty years to discover it was Hackenthorpe. Obviously you also have learned the pronunciation and not the spelling. At least you will be understood if your ever come to Huddersfield! - JLe

Incidently I have found the number for the Huddersfield family history. It is Huddersfield 01484 859229. They are open each afternoon until 1630 but there is a late night on a Thursday 19-30 - 22-00 I'm sure someone will help.

Another link and contact. many thanks.

I have been investigating this strand of the family for a while, and would be lovely to finally resolved all and find where she was buried.

Nest step would then be to visit grave and a trip to Huddersfield, if grave still exists.

As we live near London, i can't just pop up to look on off chance its there!

Thanks you for your help
