I applied for a birth cert for a George BENNETT born in N Kilworth, Leics, but when it arrived it didn't look like the right one for my purposes. Here's the info in case it's of use for someone else... 1 March 1839 at Bitteswell mother = Hannah BENNETT formerly STEVENSON, of Bitteswell father = George BENNETT, huntsman I should say that the exquisite script is not very legible: Bitteswell looks more like Bittestock or Bitteslock; Stevenson looks more like Heocuton! however, I am reasonably confident of my decryption. Bitteswell is just NW of Lutterworth; North Kilworth is almost due East, a few miles away. It could just be the right George, but I'm really after 1839 (Jun qtr) - 40 (Mar qtr) (when there doesn't seem to be a George BENNETT born in the Lutterworth area). Maybe he was registered late and it's the one or those registered in 1844 or 1849! hope this helps someone else - or that someone else can identify mine! |
