hi there,im trying to find information on my great grandfather and his family! could any tell me the best way to do so as im new to starting a family tree, i know his name was eugene patrick boyd born 1917 and died september 1944 ww2 an was part of the durham light infantry. if anyone has any advice on how i can find any information about him or his family it would be much appreciated, thanks alot anthony

Do you have any idea where he was born?

You need to find his birth cert but if you know your great grandma's name the marriage cert would give you their fathers' names and would confirm that you have the right birth cert. It would also confirm his age.

If you don't know your great grandma's name then start with details of the grandparent in question and work back from there.
