Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me find details about my grandfather John Hood Boyd. I know he married Ellen McGregor Sutherland but I don't know when or where. I know he died in 1893 when my father Robert Turnbull Boyd was 4 years old and he was 28 but I don't know where my grandfather was born. My grandmother said she was born in Edinburgh and I know she died in 1931 at the age of 70 but I can't find her date of birth. She seems to have fibbed about her age from time to time!! Please can anyone help?

I suppose it is possible that this is my grandfather especially as the middle name is the same. My father was born in Broughton, Lancs and his father was a Commercial Traveller.

No, the family were never at Toxteth Park. The details given for Robert Turnbull Boyd are correct, I have his Birth Certificate. My grandmother married a second time, she married Edwin Richards from Market Harborough and the rest of her history is known to me. Thanks anyway.

John Boyd was a 27 year old batchelor of 9 Salisbury St, Edinburgh. He was a clothier and son of Robert, a foreman in a wool mill and Christina nee Hood.
Helen was a 22 year old spinster from 10 Elgin Place, Haymarket, Edinburgh. Her parents were James, a farmer and Ann McGregor Sutherland nee Lindsay.
Witnesses were Robert Boyd and Jane B Sutherland.
