I am keeping my fingers crossed that some one on GR can help me find a birth date for Mary Brown, i have her wedding as 21/10/1898 to Malcolm Campbell and her death was 10/10/1953 i think its about 1873 going by her age when she was married. Her parents are Robert and Jessie Brown and i think it will be Edinburgh as she was married and died there
thanks Mons

Hi Rootgather,
I've gave up wasting my credits on the website so I'm going to book a day search on the 2nd June at the scotlandspeople centre. I've had success with the rest of my family going back to 1796 on mine and 1614 on my hubbies but my mothers maternal side is a nightmare.
I know Robert was a stableman and Jessie died before Mary married in 1898 so I'm clutching at straws.
The last time i was at the records office the system had crashed so only people that had pre booked got to stay.

I wonder if Jessie married a Brown then married another one. That would be the reason Brown was on childs birth as mothers maiden name.

You need to get Robert Brown and Jessies wedding cert

Hi rootgather
no it was the 21/04 i had been on the 16/04 for the free taster session as well. Luckily i don't have far to travel as i know live in Edinburgh.
If you are ever stuck again, the North British Hotel(just above the Disney store) do a shopper special meal very reasonable and they don't mind you sitting for ages and if you go after your days search they have happy hour at the bar lol.
