I would like to have any information on George Alfred Brown, i think he is from the London area - not much help!
He had a son named John (Jack) Walter Brown born 1904, died 1942.
Thanks Carol

Carol, as you know about his son's birth and death, is locating this birth a possibility?
It's a bit of a palaver but if you gey the right birth you could get cert, then maybe marriage of parents and so on.
Would either of these fit with location?

Births Mar 1903
Brown John Walter Wakefield 9c 86

Births Dec 1904
BROWN John Walter Blackburn 8e 354

Hi Janet,
I can't seem to find a birth cert for John Walter Brown, all i know is that he is from the London area.
I think there are about 4 in the area, this would make it a bit costly to order all of the certs.
Any ideas?

When ordering certificates you can stipulate a parents name (or both parents names).
That way you only pay for the search not the complete fee for the certificate.

Also...
Did John Walter Brown marry ?
Would his marriage certificate give his exact date of birth, to narrow the search for his birth certificate

Julie, the marriage cert will only give age.

I don't know if this is a red herring, but cross-checking names on 1911 census these boys seem to be living in the same household. Probably brothers. I know the names are back-to-front but might be worth considering:

BROWN WALTER JOHN 1904 7 Woolwich London
BROWN ALFRED GEORGE 1900 11 Woolwich London

Just to complicate your life, I specified that the walter John in Woolwich should have father George Alfred.and it still came up. Might well be worth a look.
