Finding a publican from 1930

Hi,
Does anyone know how to access the post office directories for 1928 - 1935?
I have the name of Charles William Brown, who was the publican of the Bull's Head, 22 High St, Dartford in 1928. I have a record of Mrs.M.Brown as the publican in 1938. Charles died in 1929.
What i can't find is the wife's name in full, or anything about them, except a child Doris Ethel Kathleen Brown born 1904/1906. I can find no details of a birth which was believed to be in Dartford,

Any help would be appreciated.

If you know his death details it might be worth sending for the cert as it may well be his wife that is the informant

Shirley - yes, tried that, multiple entries. But it looks like the child wasn't born in Dartford as all the family thought! Which is odd, as the marriage looks like it was. Family visit away from home maybe at time of birth?

Ginny - Mary or Martha that is the question!!
That isn't the year but i think i have found it. He was dead between 1928 (marriage cert) and 1938 (entry on dead pub website listing), so i think you have found the right GRO reference but the year is 1929.
That could be my only way forward i think.

Thanks for your help.

The marriage cert i have is for Doris, marrying John Gladwick in 1928. Gives the father as Charles William, living 22 High St, Datrford, which is the address of the pub.
It gives her age as 21, which makes her birth year 1906 as her birthday was 15 Nov.
Witnesses don't help.

Got yer.

I cant find a birth for her anywhere never mind Kent. There are lots of variations of the name but not the exact match you have written

typical!!

Try looking for the 1938 Electoral Register. I think women were given full name not just Miss or Mrs by that date

You would need to check at Dartford library.

I googled and found e mail address [email protected].
However there does appear to be more than one
[email protected].
Try the first one because they seem to be the main one
