Can anyone help me please to find the birth record of my great grandmother Catherine Rose Brown. She was born in October 1866 at Shorncliffe Camp, Dover. This was an Army camp. I do not know the names of her parents. I need to obtain a GRO reference so that I can obtain a copy of her birth certificate. Many thanks. |

Thanks Jonesey. I wonder if she could be listed under Army births somewhere as Shorncliffe Camp was a holding camp for regiments waiting to go overseas. I do know the family went out to India not long afterwards. |

Her marriage cert would give you her father's name and would help track her down in the censuses. |

Thanks Freewheel. Unfortunately, I need reference numbers from a birth entry to ie volume and page number in order to be able to send for a copy of the birth certificate. I have tried to find her on Ancestry but without success. The family went off to India shortly afterwards and so she would not show upon the census returns. |

This relative is proving to be a real challenge! She grew up in India and married in India - I have yet to find out how I can obtain that marriage certificate. First though, I want to find out who her parents were to start tracing back along those branches. |
