I dont know any info on him but that as he wasnt listed on my grandads birth cert but my grandads side of the family said he was the father of my grandad. So i only have his name to go on, not sure were to look next. |

My grandad was born 1926 in berwick upon tweed, my great grandma Annie craig must have gone back home when she became pregnant. I have his birth cert and it says hes illegitimate. |

Is it possible to find out if he still owned it later than 1929 in the directories maybe narrow down a death date. Maybe one of his children or wife name registered on the death cert se date to see if it links to the family in newcastle vera found. So i could buy a cert to check. |

I see that the Blue Bell Hotel is still there in Belford.....have you tried contacting them to see whether they have any history of the owners? It is so unfortunate that you are looking for someone with the surname Brown as there are quite a number to choose from in Northumberland that's even if he came from there. Without any other info such as age it is practically impossible to give you any info with any confidence.....sorry! |

Yeah i understand. And yeah i did contact them a few months back, a lady who worked there said she'd ask around and let me know if she found out anything. But this was before i even knew james name tho. She must not of found out anything. |
