Did she marry in England or Wales? If so her fathers name should appear on her marriage certificate.

lucy

lucy Report 2 Jan 2011 20:30

Yeah could just be thanks! So how can I find her parents from that?

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 2 Jan 2011 20:32

You can buy a copy of the marriage certificate for £9.25 from www.gro.gov.uk

That will give you her fathers name/occupation.

You might also look at Find My Past as they have records of overseas births to UK citizens. If her father was a UK Citizen she will have UK citizenship. If you can find her birth registration then that hopefully will give you her mothers name.

Incidentally if that is her marriage then it looks as if her husband (Wilfred) died in 1978 aged 56/7. Does that ring any bells?

lucy

lucy Report 2 Jan 2011 20:43

Yep thats the one and she has never married again! Its so frustrating and confusing! lol Cheers

Jonesey Report 2 Jan 2011 20:47

Silly question perhaps but if you know her name and where she is now living, why not ask her the questions that you are seeking the answers to?

lucy Report 2 Jan 2011 20:51

Lucy - if she is still alive, despite the fact that you have not seen that side of the family since you were a child, she might be thrilled to hear from you. If you have her address why not write to her and explain you are trying to work on your family tree and would love to speak to her. It makes more sense to do that rather than get tied in knots with trying to find information which you could just get straight from her.

Yeah I could try I just don't know if she's still at the same adress... I just wouldnt know what to say but that thanks yeah I think I will :-D
