Pauline Brown ---------------- On 10.8.1879, my Grandfather ALEXANDER GIBSON BROWN was born at Cathcart Street, Glasgow, to ALEXANDER BROWN (Mercantile Clerk) and Joan Brown (nee GIBSON). They were married 9.11.1876 in the District of Blythewood. On 2.6.1899 at the Gordanhalls, Paisley Road, Glasgow (Church of Scotland), ALEXANDER aged 22 (Brassmoulder) of 26, Cathcart Street, Glasgow married ELIZABETH GILCHRIST aged 20 (Dressmaker) of 32, Carrick Street, Glasgow. ALEXANDER BROWN Senior was now a Commercial Traveller, ROBERT GILCHRIST (Elizabeth's Father) was a Quay Porter and her Mother was HELEN GILCHRIST (nee McConniche). I know the details of their children although not much is know about JOHN BROWN (who was in the Black Watch). There was an "Aunt Mary GILCHRIST". The children used to visit the "Big House at Govan" for Sunday tea but I do not know who lived there. An ALEXANDER BROWN won a Glass Biscuit Barrel at INVERKIP Regatta. In the 60's "Cousins" visited Helen and Robert Brown in London. Their surname might be CALDER of DUKE STREET, Glasgow. Some of the middle names of the children of ALEXANDER and ELIZABETH are:- MCCONNICHE, MARLOW, GIBSON, CAMPBELL & EUSTON (or EUSTACE). These might be the surnames of relations. Any information relating to the extended BROWN FAMILY would be greatly appreciated.
