it appears that my great grand father had been adopted by the 1901 census, he was at that point living in meridon ,coventry, where he lived the rest of his life. however, before that it seems he was living in the london area, or at least he was born there. iwould like to find out the circumstances surrounding his adoption (did his parents die) or did he have any brothers or sisters ? how do i start to find this out? iknow he was born on 19/09/1890 but don`t know where

sorry it took so long to answer. carter was his birth name. i think keatly was the name of his `foster parents`

There are 2 possibles,both in 1st quarter 1891.
Joseph Carter registered Islington 1b 204
Joseph Alfred R Carter registered Holborn 1b 727
