Hi there, i am looking for the birth of a Marrietta Avies Carter born c1855 in Sussex. Tried searching the records but having no luck. Any help would be much appreciated thanks. |

Depending on which part of Sussex she was born you might find some info on the Sussexweald site. |

Well registration wasnt compulsory til 1875 ?? What is the earliest census you have found her on? |

Hi Heather and many thanks. We were only searching birth records at the moment on here and two other sites but no luck on any of them. Hadn;t got round to the census, sorry. Yes that appears to be her, the parents seem to be right also. Thanks it is much appreciated. Hopefully it will be easier to get the birth details now. |

If you buy the above birth cert for £7 from GRO online for the "Female" Carter - just specify father and mothers names on your order. |

Im not sure about the other kids to be honest Heather. We have only just managed to get back as far as Marrietta herself. It didn't help having three Marrietta in a row on the family tree....lol |
